ID Yourself

An identity document (ID) is a document that proves your identity. In other words, it shows that you are who you say you are. The green, bar-coded ID is thus a legal form of identity when dealing with public and private institutions.

You need your ID in order to:

	write your final exam
	register at a tertiary institution
	apply for your drivers’ license
	cast your first vote when you are 18 years old
	access housing, education, and healthcare services
	access job opportunities
	enter into business agreements or partnerships
	register for the Unemployment Insurance Fund
	apply for a passport and visas to work, study or visit friends and relatives overseas
