The Department of Home Affairs processes between one and three million ID applications a year. This large number of applications, combined with the problem of poorly completed application forms, may lead to errors appearing in ID books. However, such errors in an identity document are corrected free of charge. The BI 9 and BI 309 forms, proof of the correct information and two identical ID-size photographs should be submitted at any Home Affairs Office to correct the errors.
