What am I voting for?

• You are voting for political parties and party candidates to represent you in the National Assembly as Members of Parliament (MPs). These MPs then elect the President of the Republic of South Africa. The President appoints his/her cabinet ministers, mainly from among the MPs.
• You are also voting for political parties and party candidates to represent you in the Provincial Legislatures (MPLs). The MPLs then elect the Premier of the Province. The Premier appoints Members of the Executive Council (MECs) from among the Members of the Provincial Legislature.
