Why should I
register?
Registration is the first step towards exercising your right and civic obligation to vote.
The Electoral Act No. 73 of 1998 states that only if you are registered, you are allowed to vote, your name MUST appear on the voters’ roll.
New voters to be added to Voters' Roll
- South African citizens who have not registered
- Be at least 16 years old (you can only vote at 18 years of age)
- Newly naturalized citizens (with a green, bar-coded ID book showing your SA citizenship)
