Johannesburg – Saturday, 18 July 2020 - The South African Broadcasting Corporation, in celebration of Mandela Day this year, will be handing over study guides to selected schools across the country, through its provincial offices and radio stations.
The public broadcaster, led by its CSI, Radio and SABC Education departments, will donate Matric study guides for Maths, Science, Life Science and Accounting to Matriculants at the respective schools, and ensure that it caters for the exact numbers of learners accordingly.
SABC Group Executive: Corporate Affairs and Marketing, Ms. Gugu Ntuli stated “since the inception of Mandela Day, the public broadcaster has played a conscious role to ensure that the legacy of Tata Nelson Mandela remains alive. In combatting COVID-19, the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s focus this Mandela Day is on fighting hunger, supporting schools and encouraging active citizenship. As a corporation, we have decided to support the Nelson Mandela Foundation through the donations we are making to schools. Furthermore, our respective TV and radio platforms will carry programmes in support of Mandela Day.”
The schools which were identified by our radio stations and will receive the study material are as follows:
Limpopo
Malilele Secondary School and Makuya Secondary School;
- North West
Thapama Secondary School and Gaseitsewe Secondary School;
- Mpumalanga
Sitintile Secondary School, Emakhazeni Boarding School and KwaDela Secondary School;
- Free State
Albertina Sisulu Secondary School and Concordia High School;
- Kwa-Zulu Natal
Velangaye High School and Nombika High School;
- Eastern Cape
Masimanyane S.S School and Nathaniel Pamla High School;
- Gauteng
Mphethi Mahlatsi Secondary and Hammanskraal Secondary School; and
Northern Cape
Xunkhwesa School.
The SABC will follow all COVID-19 protocols, when delivering the books to the schools.
The SABC remains committed to keeping the legacy of Tata Nelson Mandela alive, through initiatives which change lives.
