Born and originally hailing from Swaziland, Amanda Du Pont is the self-proclaimed Swati Princess. She later moved to Mpumalanga in South Africa to continue her education at Uplands College then later went on to study acting at AFDA in Johannesburg.
Amanda has since established herself not only as an actress, but also a model, brand influencer and media personality.
In 2012 she starred in her first movie, but got a big breakthrough in 2014 when she landed a lead role in a series called ‘Between Friends’. She also became one of the hosts of the SABC 1 celebrity gossip show, ‘The Real Goboza’. In the years that followed, Amanda had roles in Hear Me Move, Generations, 10 Days in Sun City, Sharon and Tayron and the Netflix series, Shadow. Others include Muvhango, City Ses’ la, A Place Called Home, Mzansi Love: Kasi Styl, End Game, Single Guys, and Intersexions.
Amanda is ambitious, confident and has a smile that could light up a room. Just a few things that her and Lelo (on Skeem Saam) might have in common.
But as beautiful as she might appear from the outside, Lelo seems to have deep-seated psychological issues. So much so, that she isn’t afraid of hurting someone or even taking a life if it means getting her way. She is highly protective of her family and loved ones and will do anything to protect them.
Now on difficult and strenuous road to building a legacy for her little daughter Nosi, Lelo (under the watchful eye of Lehasa of course) has taken up the venture of rebuilding the once burned down Maphosa Nuts factory in Turfloop. Even with backlash from the community she continues to build and change their mind-set about her plans.
Will Lelo finally achieve her dream of becoming one of the most successful business women in Turf and Johannesburg? Find out on #SkeemSaam every weeknight on SABC1 at 18.30pm and Omnibus every Sunday mornings from 9.30.
