Kick It! is a gritty docu-reality series that gives insight into the world of substance abuse and how this journey affects the user, their families, communities and the country. The series is filmed entirely in Gauteng and sponsored by TheGauteng Department of Social Development . These stories paint a startling portrait of the drug abuse problem in Johannesburg today with real life characters who share their stories. Season 2’s content will be informed by 3 pillars outlined in the Gauteng City Region Anti-Substance Abuse Strategy:
Demand Reduction - which is aimed at discouraging the abuse of substances by members of the public and is done through prevention and awareness programmes. The focus will highlight the available programmes in the communities and the impact they have had on beneficiaries.
Harm Reduction - which is aimed at provision of holistic treatment to service users and their families, through mitigating the social, psychological and health impact of substance abuse. This will focus on the impact of substance use disorders on individuals, families and communities and highlight available treatment options in the communities. These will be stories of hope from those who are in recovery and living lives free from alcohol and drugs after they have undergone treatment interventions.
Supply Reduction - which refers to efforts aimed at stopping the production and distribution of liquor, illicit substances and associated crimes through law enforcement strategies, as provided for in applicable laws. It will reflect on the work done by the Law Enforcement Agencies
